What Is Entity SEO?

Entity SEO is the practice of building content and signals around clearly identified things — a brand, a person, a product, a topic — so that search and AI systems can recognise the entity and what it connects to, rather than matching keywords alone.

Why it matters

Modern ranking and answer systems reason about entities, so the sites that are easy to identify and consistently described are the ones that get associated with a subject. That association is what carries a brand into knowledge panels and AI answers.

Example

A consultancy uses one exact company name everywhere, gives every author a real bio page, and is described the same way on its own site, its profiles and the publications that cover it.

Common misconception

That entity work replaces keywords or links. It sits on top of both: you still need pages that match what people search for and sources that vouch for you. What it changes is whether those signals resolve to one recognisable thing instead of several fuzzy ones.
