Note that Editors are not here to rewrite your entire piece. If an article has multiple errors or an error which the author has had repeatedly, it may be declined or changed back to draft status and the author asked to do a rewrite.
Nerdbot, can be seen online styled a number of ways: Nerdbot, NerdBot, NERDBOT, etc. However for the website, always refer to the site as Nerdbot.
Shorter sentences are better. If a sentence is longer than 20-25 words and can be easily cut up into two shorter ones, do so. If a paragraph is longer than five lines, try to find a logical point in the paragraph where you can break it into two.
The topic of the article should always be in the first paragraph, within the first two sentences ideally.
Use a blockquote for any direct quote longer than two lines.
When including a link to a source, hyperlink it in the text of the story. (e.g. “General Hux told Space Beat that he is so done with Kylo Ren’s s**t.”) Please try to do this in as few words as possible; please do not hyperlink an entire line of text. But please DO NOT hyperlink anything or embed anything within the first paragraph.
When in doubt, and without something being expressly noted in this document, refer to the AP Style Guide (if you’re not familiar with it, you can find one of the online versions of the cheat sheet here).
Stories should be a minimum of 300 words in length. This is both to promote good SEO and Google quality metrics as well as providing something to readers that’s worth their while to click on. If you are having trouble coming up with filler to make it to 300 words, ask your editor for suggestions.
Before you add your first image, video, or social media embed, you should have an opening block of text of at least 100 words in length. Do NOT lead off with the embed first as that will reduce the engagement and readability.
Internal Links - every piece should include a link to 1-3 additional Nerdbot articles. They can be related to an individual, a company, or a property, just as a few examples. If you are writing something that’s a follow on to an earlier article, link back to it. If it relates to another article, link to it. Where possible, have it go to a tag, but linking to a specific story is fine. Links can span 3-6 words, but don’t link full sentences.
Featured image - every post must have a featured image set, and it must be at least 1200px wide by 700px tall.
If you are going to embed an image, video, tweet, or other embedded object, have at least 100 words before adding the embed. Do not lead with the embed. Lead with your first paragraph of copy.
we are providing maximum 4 dofollow links in the article.
